How Good Is Our School: Our Successes and Achievements
Curriculum Theme:
Following on from our exploration of creating a School Policy Review Group (SPRG), it was evident that getting stakeholders round the table regularly was going to be a challenge. As a result, the following process will be used from Session 25/26 to ensure that policies in which pupils and parent/carers should be involved in reviewing and updating (e.g. mobile device policy, dress code, promoting positive relationships) are updated in a truly collaborative way:
Step 1: Communication
A current policy is sent to relevant stakeholder groups to review.
Government, Council and any other relevant guidance which must be taken into account is summarised and sent out with the process document with links to full texts.
Step 2: Collaboration
Using an iterative survey process, feedback is requested, captured, analysed and the policy refined a number of times. Technology will be used to ensure bias is removed as far as possible from any stakeholder group.
Step 3: Compromise
If we are effectively collaborative, the final output from the process will result in policies that are genuinely created by all and that reflect the majority perspectives of the Gairloch High School community.
